Photos taken on Wednesday Jan 27th as they were coming back from Agway. They did some very quick switching at the station and DG yard. Then back to Agway. Someone was getting a workout!!!!!! I was wondering if they really had a 2nd crew for that night. Although I did see a youtube video from the 26th of some East Penn guys and the No 2 running. They were towing it out of the enginehouse.  I do not know what they did with it after that.

I was given permission to enter the Agway site today to check it out. Bring on the customers. Bridge is owned by the railroad. Railroad Ave crossing completed, my understanding is that Wisner Ave is next. There equipment is still at the railroad.

Supposedly 17 more cars were brought in and moved up the line recently.  Not confirmed yet. NS was supposed to bring in some articulated container cars today. They have been sitting in Campbell Hall.

Here's one taken by my lovely wife Erika last Thursday.   M&NJ returns to  Slate Hill.  The MNJ has opened the line to the passing loop behind the  Slate Hill fire house and are now storing hopper cars on the south end of  the line.  Many of the cars carry PLCX markings which indicates ownership  by GE Railcar Services.  Some published reports indicate that Class 1  railroads have as many as 30% of their cars in storage so this is a  "growth" industry in our down economy.  Yesterday, July 1, 2009 the train  brought 9 more hoppers to Slate Hill.  The cars are now spotted on both  sides of US 6.  This photo taken June 25.  Train is departing SH with one  hopper which is to be deposited at MP4 to block an illegal crossing.  Signage on Wawayanda Avenue warns of crossing work on County Route 78 on Tuesday April 28, 2009.

Work crews from East Penn open up the County Route 78 crossing.

Brush mowing ceased at the Creeden Hill crossing where Elvree Farms has placed large amounts of packed dirt on the crossing.  This is an official road in the Town of Wawayanda.

Elvree Farms has created a second crossing about 100 yards south of the town road crossing.  Careful study of the photo will reveal the rails ands Milepost 4 lying in the immediate foreground.

Is that BALLAST?

WOW! Has to be the 1st time in years that a section of O&W track received ballast!

July 2007 Brings New Power to the M&NJ

From Dan Myers on 08/07/2007

A bulldozer has been put in place at O'Connor's Crossing (County Route 93) to begin pulling the rails of the M&NJ Ry.
The contractor is from Unionville and will begin to remove the rails immediately toward Unionville.

Thus ends the 140 year steel connection between Wawayanda and Minisink.
The photo shows the Cat loader and the crossing at O'Connors 8-7-07

A few weeks ago I took a commemorative 'last run' on the lower end of the M&NJ Railway in the Town of Minisink.  Both of the enclosed photos were taken at Waterloo Mills, NY. Today I returned to the site and found nothing but leaves where the rails had been for the past 140 years.  It will be interesting to see whether any rails remain in the Town of Minisink in five weeks when the actual 140th anniversary of the Middletown. Unionville & Water Gap RR's first run occurred.  Dan Myers - Fall 2007
