December 12, 2006 - Middletown & New Jersey 2-6-0 Number 11 headed southwest this morning via a special air-ride double-drop trailer.  She was headed for the shops of the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad where she will undergo a complete restoration.

Several months ago the engine was purchased by Alan Maples for use on The Everett Railroad in Duncansville, PA.  Arrangements to move the engine have been underway since that time.  On Sunday the 10th.  Alan Maples, President of the Everett Railroad, Bob Groman of the Rail City Museum in Sandy Creek, NY, Harold Rasmussen of the M&NJ and Dan Myers met to discuss the move.

Bob's Groman's father Dr. Stanley Groman saved the 11 in 1955 and he had a pleasant reunion with the engine that ran at the family's Rail City museum until the fall of 1973.

Monday morning Jim Wright, long time owner of the M&NJ, Dan Myers and crews from The Western Maryland Scenic Railroad and The Steam Railroading Institute in Owosso, MI converged on DG Yard and with Harold's help moved the 11 to Genpak for loading.

We wish the people at the Everett Railroad and the Western Maryland Scenic the best of luck in restoring the 11 and look forward to hearing of her progress.
