Tom Zarnock's M&NJ ex-Berwick Project
I worked on it off-and-on for 2.5 yrs but I'm very happy
with the results. It is a Branchline Berwick with modified sills, detailed
underside, scratchbuilt Superior doors (1 side open to interior), separate
door tracks, Sergent couplers, p87 wheels, custom re-stencil decals,
handpainted grafitti, and various other details. It is decorated to match
prototype shots I found on the web:
cp204652 from David Graham's site (http://railfan.ca/cgi-bin/view.cgi?image=Milton_02.05.03_1753.jpg)
and cp204662 on Joe Shaw's website (http://www.krunk.org/~joeshaw/pics/cp/cp204662mnj.jpg).
I grew up down in Pearl River (Rockland Cty) and had some family in Pine
Bush and friends of my parents somewhere outside Middletown. I never
saw anything MNJ in the flesh while growing up and getting dragged to
PlayTogs. However, when I was getting back into the hobby a few years
ago, the Branchline kits were hitting the shelves and MNJ caught my eye.
It is a thin connection to be sure but stranger things have happened.
Enjoy!
Tom Zarnock
